Excellent! This will be an international discussion on fuels, especially kiln fuels, but also power generation fuels. We will cover petro residuals, ag wastes, wood products, and gasified wastes as either partial or complete substitution for gas and oil and the impact on process chemistry, emissions, rings, productivity and efficiency. It should be a good discussion in that it will be heavy on the technology and user experience. As you know, the limits being reached are mostly environmental and there are several mature technologies being used outside the paper industry to address enviro concerns that are not used within the industry. We should bring case studies from the other industries to the table here, because we can. Traditional technical media in the paper industry lacks the column space to discuss lessons from the other industries. We can discuss this further off line, your help is much appreciated.

Hi Mike - thanks for the welcome. I will be happy to participate in the Q3 Alternative Fuels discussion - keep me posted. Lots of interest here, as you know.

Oh, and your Buckeyes can stomp the Wolverines any time - I am a Hokie, so partial to the ACC. I am out of Atlanta, even though DTE Energy Services HQ is in Ann Arbor (the rest of my colleagues may not be as pleased with the Buckeyes, though).

Who knows where we might bump into each other.

Thanks Mike, Mainly interested in new fuels for the lime kiln like ground up carpet, saw dust, solvents, etc. Also considering installing a WESP on our kiln stack to give us the ability to trial new fuels.

The Library and Publishing

Committees and groups:

If you have anything you want to publish, there are two choices:

(1) You can supply your work in PDF form and we will put it in the library on this site. You can also upload PDF's to your committee site.

(2) If you choose to publish in paper form, we suggest you use www.instantpublisher.com. We have had great success with them and they are very economical. You will, of course, have to "pass the hat" for publishing funds, but that should not be too expensive for you.
